travelling

Travelling isn’t always being in new places. Most of the time it’s being in new minds of strangers.

In this travel in the world of random letters, I discover new insights easier to digest. it’s called reading.

And this is what I purchased through surfing the unpredictable pool called internet:

“Books say: She did this because. Life says: She did this. Books are where things are explained to you; life is where things aren’t. I’m not surprised some people prefer books.” - Julian Barnes (via infinitives)

“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” - Ernest Hemingway (via solo-soliloquies)

“I was blessed with the inability to grow up and adapt to this society.” - Craig Junjulas (via saddest-summer)

“Too many people buy things they don’t even need with money they don’t even have to impress people they don’t even like.” - Universal truth via saddest-summer.tumblr.com

“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but - I hope - into a better shape.” - Charles Dickens

“And it occurred to him that there were two parts to being a better person. One part was thinking about other people. The other part was not giving a toss what other people thought.” - Mark Haddon, A Spot of Bother

“I’ll tell you a secret. Something they don’t teach you in your temple. The Gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.” - Achilles in Troy (via kjmaiuri)

“Who has never killed an hour? Not casually or without thought, but carefully: a premeditated murder of minutes. The violence comes from a combination of giving up, not caring, and a resignation that getting past it is all you can hope to accomplish. So you kill the hour. You do not work, you do not read, you do not daydream. If you sleep it is not because you need to sleep. And when at last it is over, there is no evidence: no weapon, no blood, and no body. The only clue might be the shadows beneath your eyes or a terribly thin line near the corner of your mouth indicating something has been suffered, that in the privacy of your life you have lost something and the loss is too empty to share.” - Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves (via doubledaybooks)

“Happiness doesn’t lie in conspicuous consumption and the relentless amassing of useless crap. Happiness lies in the person sitting beside you and your ability to talk to them. Happiness is clear-headed human interaction and empathy. Happiness is home. And home is not a house-home is a mythological conceit. It is a state of mind. A place of communion and unconditional love. It is where, when you cross its threshold, you finally feel at peace.” - Dennis Lehane

“Give up all hope, all illusion, all desire..I’ve tried. I’ve tried and still I desire, I still desire not to desire and hope to be without hope and have the illusion I can be without illusions..Give up, I say. Give up everything, including the desire to be saved.” - Luke Rhinehart, The Dice Man

“I was glad I wasn’t in love, that I wasn’t happy with the world. I like being at odds with everything. People in love often become edgy, dangerous. They lose their sense of perspective. They lose their sense of humor. They become nervous, psychotic bores. They even become killers.” - Charles Bukowski in Women (via nickmiller)

“Sometimes I’m terrified of my heart; of its constant hunger for whatever it is it wants. The way it stops and starts.” - Edgar Allan Poe

“Do you fall in love often?” Yes often. With a view, with a book, with a dog, a cat, with numbers, with friends, with complete strangers, with nothing at all.” - Jeanette Winterson (via atomiclanterns)

“I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too.
Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.” - Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! (via liquidnight)

I once said that I’d never liked d’Masiv until they released “Jangan Menyerah” in a facebook fan page and asked them to create the same type of song of encouragement for all ages. And they did! Here’s Beri Kami yang Terbaik.

Thanks d’Masiv!
